NEW BACKCOUNTRY CLIMB PRO SPLITBOARD
Traditional camber profile and directional boards, thought about give maximum performance on the ascent and an optimal behavior in the descent in the wide range of snows types of our mountains.
Just like its sibling the Classic Backcountry Splitboard, the New Backcountry Climb Pro Splitboardhas a number of improvements over its predecessor. The new Backcountry is 10% lighter than its predecessor, thanks to the paulownia wood used in the construction of its core, which together with poplar and bamboo give it the same flexing and torsion behavior as its predecessor but a 10 % lighter. Two holes have also been added at the tip to place the skins, avoiding the use of the classic buckles, which will allow us to mount the splitboard in descent mode without having to remove the seal skins, with this we will prevent the board from falling down the mountain due to carelessness. below, so once the split board is assembled, we’ll remove the skins to begin our descent.
The New shape of Backcountry Climb Pro splitboard (like the Nimbus and Pro Carbon splitboards ), is a splitboard with a V-shaped tip and tail. This new shape gives it a more ski shape when the board ii is on touring mode, with a new position of the clips somewhat further away from the tip and tail. With this new shape, more similar to a conventional ski, we avoid edges with closed angles and move them further away from the inner edge. This, together with the new position of the clips further back towards the center of the board, allows ascending without inverting the two halves of the board, avoiding angled edges and clips colliding with each other. And what are advantages by not inverting the two halves of the board? Touring with the straight edges towards the inside is safer and more efficient, since the “sidecut depth” in the valley half board (the half of the splitboard that is closest to the valley on a diagonal) is reduced to zero, making the half board flex less when stepped on and grip better on hard snow. But why do we move the straight edge to the valley half board? The valley half is the one that is most difficult for us to grasp because it is further away from our balance point, therefore we transfer the curved edge to the mountain half (closer to our balance point) and move the straight edge to the valley to compensate that it is further from our balance point. In addition, we must remember that this improvement in the grip of the valley half makes the “quick turn” safer and more efficient, where the support in the valley half board is total. Very important: It is recommended that touring without inverting the two halves when we already have experience in touring and we do it with the two halves in parallel and in a more instinctive way. It is not advisable not to invert them when we go along the trace of a skier, since being narrower, we could collide the two halves more easily.
Traditional and directional camber profile boards, designed to give maximum performance in the ascent and optimal behavior in the descent in the wide range of snow types in our mountains.
Our splitboards have a long contact surface with the snow, which will undoubtedly give us more grip when climbing the mountains. Presented as a very versatile board that makes us enjoy both hard days, being a reactive board, and days of deep snow thanks to its rocker, nose shape and height, a high-performance sintered black base that give us a extra speed, which together with its setback (rear position) will help us buoyancy in deep snow.
Its Flex 8 provides the optimal stiffness for Big Mountain riders.
Splitboard received the Editor’s Choice award for splitboard tested by the specialized interactive splitboard magazine, splitboarding.eu. In addition to this recognition, it has achieved the best score in the WP-Score (price / weight ratio) of all the selected splitboards.
