Mendiboard with Spark at Europe's most important trade fair

One more year we returned to the most important fair in Europe, the Munich fair by the Spark Splitboard Binding Company, where we presented our new Splitboard Line which had a very good acceptance among those attending the stand.

Pleasant surprise to see our Zenith Splitboard in the new Spark catalog season 19/20.

Thanks Spark for all your support and help.

Similar details in the graphic design of the Spark bindings and the Splitboard Line, a matter of very similar tastes.

Review de la Splitboard Sunnmore por Pablo Urrea.

Pablo Urrea born in Huesca (Spain) but Canadian in adoption has been linked all his life to the snow. At first he began his journey in the Catalan Pyrenees to later go to the Oscense Pyrenees. At the moment he is doing what he calls living in the Wild Canada, more specifically in the region of British Columbia where he practices what he likes most, splitboarding. Here it is the review that have done of our Sunnmore splitboard.

After having ridden with her during an intense month of February in Whistler (Canada), I have the pleasure of doing this review of Mendiboard’s Sunnmore. I have to say that from the first moment I saw the splitboard on the website of I knew that it could be the best tool to face the terrain offered by the Coast Mountains environment here in British Columbia.

The Sunnmore adapts perfectly to the varied terrain that I find in each route, the deep snows of the glaciers, narrow channels with great inclination, varied terrain due to the changes of snow and temperature, also behaves surprisingly well between trees and destroying pilows

Seeing for the first time the Sunnmore intrigue its pointed shape with a tremendous nose (40cm), and a tiny tail (15cm), no doubt has been created to ride in the deepest powder and enjoy the freshly fallen snow, but It offers us much more.

Thanks to its traditional camber profile and a great rocker in the nose we can face all kinds of terrain. Going down behaves in a very noble way and always with an exquisite buoyancy, it is so easy to ride in the deep powder (and come to test it with more than 70cm of powder snow), that you only have to think about your line because it offers you that tranquility. I found myself with days of snow transformed by rising temperatures and you really feel very comfortable thanks to that positive camber and you do not lose that feeling as if you were surfing that “spring” snow.

In many of the channels that abound in the surroundings of the glaciers, thanks to its buoyancy and driving comfort, you can afford to enjoy them by making some good turns or launching yourself in a ride, marking a tremendous straight at high speed because although it is not very rigid board behaves in a very stable and noble at extreme speed because the tremendous nose keeps me always afloat and safe.

One of the great qualities of the Sunnmore, comes in the climbs. Last season and at the beginning of this I could try some other powder splitboards of other brands and believe me when I tell you that the Sunnmore passes them over to many of them . The board measures 163cm but the arch of the camber gives it a very climber look, the changes of steep climbing direction are really comfortable thanks to that camber and if we add its weight so contained for this type of splitboard (3kg), we find ourselves with a very versatile and balanced double-edged sword.

Having the luck to be able to use this splitboard during this month, in all types of terrains, I realized that it is a well-constructed board and designed to stay with very good appearance, its polyamide top sheet makes it very resistant to the striped and its appearance is similar to the day I bought it.

If you really decide to buy it you will realize that your way of seeing the mountain will change completely and you will realize the tremendous dedication and involvement that has been to create this incredible splitboard.

On the other hand, the direct, friendly and sincere treatment by Xabi of Mendiboard, the ease of delivery and the price so contained thanks to its direct sale through the web, make the Sunnmore de Mendiboard a great splitboard fully trained to face the big brands that cover the big part of the market.

Sunnmore not only works in powder snow, also it has great response in other types of snow.

The limits of splitboard are in the mountains.

Examples that the limits of the splitboard are in the terrain, that is to say in the mountain, there are many. This time we come with the Mendi-rider Txema, who with his enthusiasm, his passion, his good work and his 120kg there is nothing that stands in the way of enjoying a good day of splitboard with his Splitboard Mendiboard Zenith 161.

If the snow and the mountain allow it, there will be tightening strong Zenith 161 splitboard to get the most out of his day of splitboarding.

Big Txema, BIG !!!!

The balance between lightness and solidity in the board is essential.

Many test tests are necessary to get a quality and durable material, although the best tests you give us you putting the material many times to the limit.

Our Splitboard zenith 161.

Complicated terrain. A good combination of flex, torsion, materials, measures, sidecut radius, profile, etc … make the difference.

Just have fun.

The improvements in the material make the changes, to touring mode, carry on your backpack or ride mode, are more easiers and less tedious.

Fast base (Isosport 7500) and good grip of the edge thanks to the traditional camber profile, best choice to enjoy with safety, that is fundamental in an ostil environment like the mountain.

On touring mode or ascent is where the traditional camber profile makes a difference.

Splitboard Events, Meetings and Festivals of the 2017/18 season.

This past season was very prolific in meetings, events and festivals in which we were present and of which we are very active. Meetings and festivals of which we could enjoy the snow, the splitboard and, of course, good company.

In November we started with the Skimetraje. In December with the first Mendiboard meeting. In January it was the turn of the Ispo in Munich. In February the Pyrenees Splitboard Festival, Panticosa Mountain Fest, the second Mendiboard meeting took place. Followed in March by the Manzana Splitboard Festival and the third Mendiboard meeting. In April we had the Pre and  Oficial anual meeting  of Mendiboard. In May we continued to organize some Mendiboard meetings that ended in July with the classic split-surfing in the Lac Oncet.

That we said, a season with many activities that we keep a great memory and we hope to repeat the next season. Are you going to missing them?

Thanks to all Mendi-riders to make this posible!!!!

This last season we have made ourselves known to the world at the hand of the prestigious brand of bindings and market leader Spark. First we were present at the SIA Trade Show in Denver (Colorado) and followed at the Ispo in Munich (Germany). Two of the most important fairs in the sector.
According to the guys of Spark, our Zenith 161 has attracted a lot of attention, something that makes us very happy for all the hours and enthusiasm we have dedicated to make this happen.

From here we want to thank Sparkandd for giving us this opportunity that otherwise would have been unfeasible.

Thanks Sparkandd to support us.

We continue with our quest to introduce Mendiboards splitboards in Europe.

In January 2017 we were hand picked by Spark R&D at the most important snowboard fair in Europe (the Munich Ispo) to showcase their new Arc bindings, and now it’s time to introduce Mendiboard for Norway and the Scandinavian countries. We have started a cooperation with Sunnmore Splitboards and founder Per Eivind as the front figure for this adventure. After more than a month of testing the magnificent behaviour of different Mendiboard-models in the Alps of Sunnmore (Norway) it is time to announce that Sunnmore Splitboard is our ambassador to the Nordics. Give it up for Sunnmore Splitboard in particular for all their support!

Thanks Per Eivind! 

PS! Sunnmore Splitboard also guides and organizes splitboard-hikes in Norway, contact:, or check out Sunnmore Splitboard on Facebook.

These are the next events in which Mendiboard will be present in Norway:
-Galdhøpiggrennet 2017 – 30 års jubileum (21-23 April)
-Toppturhelg i Hjørundfjord (5-7 May)
-Folven randonnee festival 2017 i Stryn (11-14 May)
-Splitboarding @Strynefestivalen 2017 (8-11 June)

First edition Chrono-Split.

On February 16th, the first edition of the Crono-Split.

This sport event consisted of ascending from the parquing level 1150m of the ski station of Panticosa, to the altitude 1900m called Petrosos zone and then return to descend to the starting point. In total 750m of difference in both ascent and descent.

The truth is that event was not easy to celebrate, since in principle was to be integrated into the Panticosa Trophy VI Los Lagos, but because the splitboard is still in limbo, in no man’s land, both the FAM and the FEDME decided that it was better to regulate it as a discipline and to wait for the next year to be able to celebrate that competition together with our colleagues of skimo.

The spliters are getting closer and preparing the material

We are putting on the starting line.

We started.

First meters of the race.

We started to face the first ramps.

The moods are still intact, but the group is stretching.

A few meters from the transition, the distances between them are already insurmountable.

Podium of the race: 1st Iñigo Unanue, 2nd Jokin Lasa and 3rd Fernan Fernandez.

From these lines we want to thank all those who encouraged you to participate.

The splitboard can be of great mountains, small walks, impossible lines …, and as not of sport event in which the chrono is the target to beat. The limits, the rules are not written, writes oneself.

Next year more and better!!!

Podium Mendiboard.

Que grandes sois chavales!!!

Splitboard suela negra

Why the base of our splitboards are black?

The base of several colors or transparent with suggestive designs inside are more aesthetic than the black bases, but since Mendiboard we have always been in favor of being practical.

Black bases are usually of higher quality than those of colors, in our case we use a Isosport sintered 7500 base, or what is the same a base of very high performance and quality. But because a black base, perhaps less suggestive than the colors? Because they are practical, because we have been mistreating for years and after passing through the hands of a good professional, we have the base again as the first day.

It is worth a picture that a thousand words so we leave you some photos of before and after a base very punished for having used it those days in which a timid snow hides an endless stones and rocks in the way of sharp blades.

The appearance of the base was downright bad. The urge to hurry some descents had taken its toll.

Scars from a few years.

Some of the wounds we thought would not heal.

We could not believe that it was our old splitboard.

Our old friend returned to look like the first day.

We have again splitboard for many years.

Thanks to Luis de Windaction of Valladolid for his good work and his professionalism, we re-brand new splitboard. This board still has many mountains to discover.
